Take Action and Be Prepared - A New Year's Resolution

January 2, 2017

The end of any year is always a very busy time. Days and nights are filled with a variety of holiday traditions, family gatherings, and a bustle of year-end activities that tend to focus on the “administrivia” of closing out another year.

The rush of the holiday season comes to a close. Celebrants watched the crystal ball drop in Times Square signaling the start of a New Year. 2016 ended with a toast, perhaps a kiss, and sometimes a thoughtful New Year’s resolution.

Barbara Bates Sedoric, Founder of LastingMatters, engaged in a meaningful presentation and conversation about planning ahead for any life-changing event with a room full of attendees at the Durham Public Library this week. "Planning for the inevitable is the greatest gift you can give and receive" said Sedoric.

The Sad Case of Casey Kasem - The Lack of Planning for Death

June 24, 2014

In case you hadn’t heard, Casey Kasem died last week.  The news of his death was not, however, a huge surprise.

A family battle over Casey’s end-of-life care, treatment and intentions was the predominant story for several weeks- a feud played out in public and highlighted in various media outlets.

Could this feud have been avoided? A resounding yes!

Keys, keys and more keys.

May 11, 2014

Have you ever come across any unknown, unmarked keys such as the ones pictured above?

Did you happen to find them in a strange place where you not only wondered what they were doing in that location, but, more importantly, you wondered what did those keys actually open?

It is hard enough keeping track of which keys open what when you are the owner and you are still alive. Now imagine the problems that arise when you die and someone else is left to figure out the puzzle!
