My Bucket Runneth Over

Have you ever experienced that uneasy sensation in your physical being and the rattling going on in your mind? Those uneasy signs of being completely overwhelmed?

Do you ever go to sleep at night and worry yourself into a frenzy about all the things that are happening to you and to those around you knowing you don't have any control over what's going on?

Is your to-do list a mile long and your inbox overflowing?

Does your bucket constantly runneth over?

What can you do about that?

How do you process all the bad news in the world?

How do you soften the images in your head that are constantly replayed of the recent tragic bombings in Boston?

How do you come to terms with, and find your balance in, all the things you can't control as well as those that you can control?

Here are some of the ways I deal with all these symptoms and issues that you may find useful:

  1. Learn to meditate. The benefits of meditation include reduced stress in body and mind, inner clam, and clear decision making. I meditate twice a day for 20 minutes and I recommend learning Transcendental Meditation.
  2. Yoga
  3. Exercise daily
  4. Prioritize
  5. Communicate
  6. Laugh
  7. Volunteer-do something for someone else.
  8. Make a plan
  9. Simplify your life
  10. Eat healthy
  11. Practice random acts of kindness

The point is this.

If you find that your "bucket runneth over" too many times,  then take a deep breath, try to live in the moment, and take time to make a plan for that which you might be able to or can control. You never know when the inevitable will happen. Just think about the lives that were forever changed on a sunny Patriot's Day!

This is a short yet important message this my bucket was overflowing.
